The Beauty of the Everyday Exhibition - 2014
Gmeiner Art & Cultural center
134 Main Street, Wellsboro, PA 16901
March 1st - March 31st 2014 My work reflects a life value: finding beauty in the everyday and the less noticeable. I'm inspired by the landscapes and towns in my direct surroundings. They provide an instant connection, which is essential for me to create. To strengthen and convey this connection, I prefer to fully experience a scene and paint on location ('plein air') or work with sketches done on site.
My choice of medium is oil paint because its consistency helps me convey the mood by making sharp edges with palette knives, creating texture and applying thicker paint for sunlit areas.
I try to literally shine a light on a scene's essence and in doing so, I hope to share with the viewer my appreciation for the everyday. |
